Bound 2019 BMW X7 Officially Revealed With Loaded Tech

Unlike the traditional looks of BMW, everything is massive and this seventh BMW SUV model inarguable parades the largest components amongst others, though we still expect it to inherit few components sitting on BMW's 2015 cluster architecture (CLA) platform. Here's what the largest ever BMW has to offer.

BMW says the standard driver assistance systems will vary depending on market, however it's likely Australian X7 owners will be treated to a full suite of features, including active cruise control, steering and lane control assist, and parking assist - the latter of which will come in handy at the Westfield auto park due to the X7's sheer size.

At the front, Adaptive LED headlights and front foglamps are standard, while BMW Laserlights are optional. The model also has an electronically controlled split tailgate, long rear doors, and slim taillights. From this perspective, it's also easier to see the small height advantage the X7 holds, something that would actually pay dividends for rear-seat passengers. Boot capacity can be expanded from 326 litres to a maximum 2,120 litres.

Topline: The BMW X7, which boasts three rows of seating and capacity for up to six passengers, represents one of the luxury automaker's biggest undertakings of recent times and aims to compete in a segment now dominated by the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, and Audi. BMW offers individual comfort seats for the middle row. The back pews feature armrests, cup holders, and USB ports as standard, and all seats are electrically adjustable.

BMW says the third row has enough space and comfort to occupy adults with comfort on even a long journey.

A 12.3-inch screen takes the place of conventional gauges, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen on the dashboard handles the infotainment system. On the other hand, five-zone automatic climate control, ambient air package, panorama glass roof sky lounge, controls with glass applications, Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround sound and rear-seat entertainment are optional.

BMW will launch four grades of X7 - 40i, 50i, 30d and M50d. The SUV further comes in four variants (two petrol and two diesel drivetrains).

The designs are based on the X7 xDrive40i with Design Pure Excellence and on the X7 M50d with quad-turbo diesel.

The petrol inline-six can churn up to 335PS while the turbo-charged 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol maxes out at 456PS, providing the massive SUV plenty of power on tap.

Two design packages are available for the BMW X7. The lower tune produces 265bhp and the higher tune churns out 400bhp. All use the eight-speed automatic and get all-wheel drive. This AWD system can send 100 per cent of the power to the rear wheels when required. A head-up display also comes as part of the package.

The X7 is expected to arrive at dealerships in March 2019.

BMW Thailand recently wooed the Thai public with the concept version of the X7, so there's a good chance of it coming to local showrooms by the first quarter of next year.
