Trump mocks Elizabeth Warren's DNA test at Montana rally

Elizabeth Warren and her claim to Native American ancestry.

I guess Warren felt that her - as the left would describe it - "white privilege" was not enough to help advance up the academic ranks fast enough. "If this were a Republican right now, if this were Ted Cruz coming out here, saying he was Native American, and he was.009 (percent), you would be going insane".

"While we acknowledge that Warren has since stated that she does not claim tribal citizenship, we are uncomfortable with the implications of her decision to release this information in the first place". Others also cared because Warren had listed herself as a minority in an Association of American Law Schools directory.

But he said he would rather be in Republicans' position, in control of the Senate with 51 seats, than in Democrats', with 49 seats and facing an uphill climb to defend all ten states and make net gains in order to regain control of the chamber.

"If Warren thought that this video and DNA test would shut Trump up, she was dangerously mistaken", opined CNN's Chris Cillizza.

"At every law school where Elizabeth was recruited to teach, it has been made absolutely clear she was hired based on merit; on her accomplishments and ability", former Warren spokesperson Alethea Harney told The Washington Post in 2012. Those people should educate themselves about common myths surrounding tribal membership and the reality of how federal resources are appropriated to tribes, says Tsosie. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released DNA test results divulging only minuscule amounts, if any, of her purported Native-American heritage, President Donald Trump called for a formal apology from Warren for deceiving Americans. The Cherokee Nation, for its part, issued a statement saying Warren's stunt "makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven".

To find out if her story was true, Warren enlisted the help of a Stanford University genetics professor, Carlos Bustamante, whose DNA testing "strongly" supported that Warren is Native American.

"If you're like most people, a sliver of Native American coding in your DNA is no more than a colorful bit of family trivia", the Globe wrote. In that vein, it's hard to imagine what could top a celebrity game-show president causing a brilliant, scholarly woman to test her DNA so that he would stop teasing her and she could run for president.

Ms Warren, who is seen as a potential 2020 challenger to Mr Trump, appears to have followed the president's tactics, striking back nearly instantly at the president who continues to ridicule her claim of Native American ancestry.

Chaffetz said most of the reactions to his post were sympathetic to his intended criticism of Warren.

But Warren's results do not align with the ancestry she has touted. They want to detach from it. Trump then made the "Pocahontas" jibe a laugh line at his rallies in 2016 after Warren became an outspoken critic.

Locally, the Cherokee Nation said the DNA tests were useless for determining tribal citizenship.
