Google Maps update brings real-time ETA

The feature was recently updated for Android users back in August and now it can be used from an iPhone, as well.

From here you'll be able to share your live location, route, and ETA with all your favorite contacts. You can now share your trip progress (as opposed to just your location) via third-party apps.

Google has announced that it has improved on its real-time ETA sharing for Google Maps on Android, and is now bringing the feature to iOS.

The setting lets users share their location with specific people for the duration of a trip.

For those at the receiving end follow the link and you'll get see the current progress of the trip including destination, eta, location (obviously) and a few other details. Once the trip finishes the sharing session is automatically finished so you don't need to worry about letting someone track you after the trip is finished.
