Based on Piper Kerman's memoir Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison, the Netflix series "follows Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a happily engaged New Yorker who is sent to a women's federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money across worldwide borders, 10 years prior, for her girlfriend at the time, Alex Vause (Laura Prepon)".

Created by Jenji Kohan (Weeds) and based on the memoir by Piper Kerman, Orange Is the New Black follows the semi-fictionalized adventures of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), who gets sent to a women's prison after being convicted of a decade old crime. Deadline reports Orange Is The New Black will end after its upcoming seventh season.

Orange is the New Black's time is almost served.

The news was announced via Twitter, in a poignant video that featured messages from the cast - who warned fans: "This will make you cry". "We're at the end of the road", Danielle Brooks tweeted.

Orange Is the New Black premiered in 2013 and quickly became one of the streaming service's signature hit shows.
