Glen Taylor confirms Timberwolves are still trying to trade Jimmy Butler

Moral victories are rightfully lamented in these parts, but if any team ever needed one, it was the Wolves, who have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons ever since Butler requested a trade on September 18.

Considering Garnett made a high-profile exit from Minnesota in 2004 and a less-than-successful return in 2015, he was a go-to source for his thoughts on Taylor, who also owns the Star Tribune.

Although Taylor has not expressed any desire to sell the team of late, the time has come for the Taylor era to finally end, both for the player's sake as well as the fans. "What I said to him in the meantime is our GM, Scott Layden, will be talking to other teams to see if there is a trade that works". However, not having your coach and general manager on the same page as the head of the entire organization, along with handing the keys to a coach to make roster decisions as the president of basketball operations and then speaking out against his decisions is not only counterproductive, but creates even more animosity within the organization. Taylor, in fact, responded in the affirmative when asked if the team was committed to trading Butler, and added they aren't planning on him remaining with the team beyond the season. "But that is not what we have agreed to". Butler calls Game 1 of the season something to learn from, with 81 more to play.

As for where Thibodeau stands in all this, Taylor says his job is safe despite the apparent team turmoil and he isn't coaching for his job. And Jimmy will behave - stay away from people and places that aren't good for him.

"Well, I'm OK with it", Taylor said.

The Wolves and Spurs tip Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
