WWE invades Washington, DC at the Capital One Arena for tonight's episode of SmackDown Live, which is the 1000th edition. Vince, Stephanie and Shane McMahon reminded us all that no matter what happens for the bulk of any WWE card, it'll still always be their show. Evolution's reunion turned ever-so-slightly serious when a potential final battle between Triple H and Batista suddenly seemed possible.

While Bautista didn't take part in any physical activities, there were a few tense moments as he teased a confrontation with the former Evolution leader, Triple H.

The WWE stopped caring about stages years ago, but the return of the iconic SmackDown fist stage would have gone a long way to helping last night's show feel special.

The New Day dropping the tag-team titles was a big shock, and the opening segment featuring the McMahons and R-Truth was a lot of fun, but there were several other things the WWE could have done to have made the night better.

The hotly-anticipated return of Rey Mysterio to a WWE fan takes place tonight, with the much-loved Mexican star facing United States champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a World Cup qualifying match. Despite landing heavy blows early on in the match, the Mexican superstar delivered a picture ideal 619 and followed it up with a frog splash to claim the victory.
