Samsung Galaxy A9 is the world's first quad-cam smartphone

With the introduction of quad-camera setups, Samsung is also rumored to include a new cooling system that improves heat dissipation in the camera area.

The new Samsung Galaxy A9 was revealed in all its quad camera glory at the company's Samsung A Galaxy Event, held at the W Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, putting to rest speculation that had been growing ever since the tech giant teased its "4x fun" event last month.

There's also a 24MP camera at the front.

It's somewhat odd for Samsung to launch a phone with world-first features that's not a flagship, but the A9 is plenty powerful.

Connecitivity-wise, the Galaxy A9 2018 comes with a USB Type-C port and, to our surprise yet again, a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Thankfully, this time, we get the Helio P22 chipset which is a decent performer as the same SoC powers the Xiaomi Redmi 6 . Still, HMD Global could offer more details with regards to the pricing and availability of the smartphones at the launch.

Samsung have just announced their next smartphone which is set to feature a quadruple camera, Face ID and a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. The second sensor is a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture and 10-megapixel resolution. Next, we have an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens that will provide more background in the shot that you are about to snap.

Inside the Galaxy A9 you will find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor with 6GB or 8GB of RAM (varies depending upon operator/region).

Samsung has only unwrapped the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone, but it hasn't disclosed its pricing.

On the subject of availability, Samsung says that the Galaxy A9 2018 will be available at all Samsung Galaxy Experience stores and authorised resellers in November, but fell short of providing a specific date, or even a launch price.
