Netflix's Witcher series has cast its Ciri and Yennefer

It's been revealed that Henry Cavill will be joined by Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) has been cast in the role of Yennefer, a sorceress and Geralt's longtime love.

Cavill, meanwhile, plays the lead role of The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia.

Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) has been cast as Cintra's Queen Calanthe, the grandmother of Ciri. Filling out the magical academy at Aretuza are Tissaia (Ripper Street's MyAnna Buring) and novice sorcerers Fringilla (Mr Selfridge's Mimi Ndiweni) and Sabrina (Therica Wilson-Read). Indeed, the Mission: Impossible - Fallout actor's involvement was a huge coup for the fantasy series, and now the show is casting up around the talented performer. The advertisement noted that The Witcher was looking to cast a "BAME actress" - that is, a Black, Asian, and/or minority ethnic actress - to play Ciri (via From the beginning, they have only looked to cast the best actors for a given role.
