Google is expected to announce a refreshed Chromecast at its hardware event in NY today, but it seems a United Kingdom retailer got its timing a little off.

The one new features coming to Chromecast is speaker groups. Google will also roll out this function to current owners of the second-generation Chromecast, too. The updated device adds support for 60 fps streaming at 1080p, but does not support a 4K resolution, which is why the Chromecast Ultra remains Google's top-of-the-range media player.

Google Home Hub release date, price, news and features
Not really, as the hub has a tailored UI, and the Home View interface can control hundreds of thousands of devices. Pre-orders begin today at Google's online store, with the Home Hub hitting retailers on October 22.

This is a little different from Best Buy, which let a few third-generation Chromecasts out the door prematurely earlier this month.

"We launched our first Chromecast in 2013 with the aim to make it easy to get your favorite content right from your phone to your TV". The company says the new Chromecast comes with 15% improvement in hardware speed. Google has gotten rid of the Chrome logo, replacing it with its own logo and introducing a gorgeous matte finish. Some of these design details about this new Chromecast also leaked after photos of the product made its way online after physical retail stores jumped the gun and accidentally sold Google's latest streaming device before it was even announced. While Google did not talk about the new Chromecast during their event they did quietly make a blog post about it and post the Chromecast for sale in their store.
