Liverpool midfielder James Milner faces an anxious wait to find out the seriousness of an injury he picked up during his side's Premier League encounter with champions Manchester City at Anfield.

Liverpool are now level on 20 points with Manchester City and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League after eight games.

While a point against City could yet prove crucial at the end of the season, Van Dijk believes the key to a successful title challenge is dispatching the league's less illustrious sides.

He said: "We're here to play for our country".

"But I think it is not about these games, it is all about the other games, the hard games which we have against mid-table and lower teams", he added. I don't know. I [asked] him: "'Big one?' and he said: "'I don't think so, but big enough that I go off'". Despite having made just one start in a red shirt this season, the 24-year-old is trusting the process.

But under their new manager Unai Emery, the Gunners have made sure they keep a close eye on the league leaders and now just 2 points behind them.

Asian shares fall as China set to reopen after Beijing eases policy

It took until the 62nd minute for both teams to register a shot on target as they cancelled each other out, before City were given a golden opportunity when Virgil van Dijk was adjudged to have upended Leroy Sane in the penalty area.

"I think to keep a clean sheet after a penalty in the last five minutes makes me a very happy man", added the Dutchman.

"It was not smart from me personally and hopefully it will never happen again".

"I don't exactly know what you can win but there is some final next summer or something so that's it".

"It was a decision I made and hopefully it will be the last time I make that decision at that time". And we hope that they come back healthy and play these easy competitions, the Premier League, the Champions League and all this.
