And it appears Swift's appeal worked-vote.org was flooded with new registrations across the country in the 24 hours after the singer uploaded her post.

After 24-hours and almost two million Instagram likes later, Vote.org said Tennessee voter registration jumped 65,000 in a day.

For comparison's sake, 190,178 new voters were registered via Vote.org nationwide during September and 56,669 in August. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I can not support Marsha Blackburn.

Swift said in her comments that while she typically tries to support women running for office, Blackburn's voting record "appalls and terrifies me".

Kamari Guthrie, the director of communications for voter registration website Vote.org, told BuzzFeed News the Look What You've Made Me Do hitmaker's announcement had prompted tens of thousands to register to vote in November's elections.

Swift's Instagram post was welcomed by Democrats in Tennessee, where polls show Blackburn and Bredesen are locked in a tight race to replace Sen.

The organization also said it received at least 2,144 voter registrations from Tennessee residents in the past 36 hours since her post, nearly half of the 5,183 people who have registered to vote there in October.

Some others weren't too keen on Swift's newfound political stance.

Swift's political post, which cited the reasons she doesn't want Marsha Blackburn to win the Senate seat, was criticized by President Trump on Monday.

The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. She also declared her vote for Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen. But they also enraged many conservatives, especially those in the country music community where Swift got her start as a teenager and went on to win 10 Grammys.

Swift, 28, noted Blackburn's voted against equal pay for women, against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act that protects women from domestic abuse, and opposes marriage equality.

"These are not MY Tennessee values", the "Fearless" singer said online. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. "Last day to register to vote is October 9".
