We know that Captain Marvel - which releases before Avengers 4 in 2019 - will be set in the 1990s but the theory posits that her post-credits scene (come on, you know there will be one) will be set in the modern day, and will see her receiving the page that Nick Fury sent at the end of Infinity War only to see her disintegrate into dust.

And if what Mark Ruffalo said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is actually true, then they were absolutely right.

This entire saga began as part of a Tonight Show segment in which Ruffalo the title of the next Avengers movie out loud.

Do you have any theories about what they could call the next Avengers movie? That was "off the record" homey.

Granted, Volkov was quick to admit that this might not be the real title of Avengers 4, since the whole thing played out like an elaborate gag, but this does sound like Ruffalo saying "The Last Avenger". Please don't get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again.

While Fallon did bleep the title, Marvel fans managed to remove the bleep and revealed that the title is "The Last Avenger".

Ruffalo has a bit of a history with spoilers, having inadvertently revealed the ending to Avengers: Infinity War in 2017, and accidentally livestreamed the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok with the phone in his pocket. This would mean that the film will have a lot more focus on Steve Rogers, which is possible, given that the film will mark an end to his journey in MCU.

A five-year time jump also fits with reports that Avengers 4 has cast an older version of Cassie Lang.
