Saudi, Iranian envoys condole Kulsoom's death with Nawaz

LONDON: The flight carrying Kulsoom Nawaz's body departed for Pakistan late on Thursday from Heathrow airport after being delayed for an hour.

Kulsoom Sharif, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's wife, will be laid to rest at the Sharif Medical City in Lahore at 5 pm on Friday. The family is now meeting people in Jati Umra, who have come to pay homage to Begum Kulsoom.

"Hasan and Hussain will not return as they will attend the funeral prayer of their mother in London on Thursday", a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said. Her body will be brought back here and buried on Friday in the Jati Umra Lahore residence of the Sharif family.

Shehbaz Sharif along with Begum Kulsoom's daughter Asma, grandson Zayd Hussain Sharif and 11 other family members accompanied the body to Lahore.

Turkish Presdient Tayyap Erdogan, Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, Iranian delegation and former president Mamnoon Hussain also offered honest condolence to Nawaz Sharif.

The funeral prayers in London were attended by her sons Hassan and Hussain, brother-in-law Shehbaz Sharif, former ministers Chaudhry Nisar and Ishaq Dar among others.

PML-N leader, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar were brought Tuesday night to Raiwind from Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail on parole.
