7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, will be the team's starting quarterback for Week 2 after Nathan Peterman turned in another disastrous performance to open the season.

Just like that, the Buffalo Bills are handing the keys to their rookie quarterback.

The Bills officially tabbed Allen as the starter Tuesday, and he'll be under center for his home debut Sunday afternoon against a Chargers team looking to get back on track after a Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen fared moderately better than Peterman after coming into the game in the third quarter, tossing 74 yards on 6 of 15 attempts.

"I don't feel a need, honestly, to elaborate (on my decision)", McDermott said after the announcement, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak. "I thought he had pretty good command of the huddle and the offense at the line of scrimmage".
