Aston Martin Rapide E Comes with 65 kW Battery and 610 PS

But those lucky enough to eventually get their hands on one will have a auto powered by two rear-mounted electric motors working together to produce what Aston Martin intriguingly says will be "over 602bhp".

The Battery-Electric Vehicle (BEV) is powered by a 65kWh battery pack which is mounted where the original 6.0-litre V12, its gearbox, and fuel tank were located. Efficiency of 3.08 miles per kWh is unexceptional among high-end EVs, but automakers whose electric motors lack efficiency (Audi and Jaguar) tend to compensate with larger batteries or high-output charging system infrastructures. It's good for 155mph, will crack 62mph from rest in under four seconds and sprints from 50-70mph in just 1.5 seconds. At full chat, an 800v, 100kW charger can replenish 310 miles of range per hour.

More important is sustained performance, however, and here Aston Martin promises a full lap of the Nurburgring without the auto throttling back due to heat.

The British brand has stressed that these parameters will not only be achievable when the batteries are full, but throughout "the majority of the battery state charge window, as you would expect from a conventional vehicle". The company promises that the Rapide E can handle a full lap of Germany's famed Nürburgring circuit with "absolutely no derating" of the battery, and that it shouldn't suffer with frequent hard acceleration and braking.

The car's exterior and underbody has also been aerodynamically optimised and complemented with newly-designed aerodynamic wheels. Aston is keeping the weight down through alloys and carbon composites, while it's refining the aerodynamics right down to the wheels (which wear low-resistance Pirelli P-Zero tires).

Sketchy pre-order site 'confirms' the OnePlus 6T
The Giztop listing suggests that the OnePlus 6T will sport 3500mAh battery with VOOC fast charging support. Like all previous OnePlus smartphones, the 6T will not include a microSD card slot for further expansion.

‘Phenomenal’ 83-foot wave detected in Hurricane Florence
The storm's surge, the rise in sea water above normally dry land at the coast, could reach up to 13 feet at peak. Global News is on the ground in the storm-impacted areas and will be providing updates in the live blog below.

Millions prepare as Hurricane Florence approaches USA coast
Yesterday officials in Beaufort County, home to Hilton Head Island, held a news conference and urged people to leave voluntarily. Wilmington, North Carolina , just north of where Florence appeared headed for shore, grew empty and quiet on Wednesday.

It has also been an objective of the project to retain and enhance the feel, character and delivery of the V12-engined Rapide S. To this end, careful attention will be paid to the development and tuning of both the electric powertrain and the chassis, with particular focus applied to software integration. As a career automotive engineer, I'm proud that the vehicle industry is leading the way in finding long-term solutions and reducing harmful emissions.

According to Aston Martin, the Rapide E will have a driving range of over 320 kilometres under the WLTP regime. 'Rapide E will also serve as a critical step on our path to re-launching Lagonda as the world's first zero-emission luxury marque'.

The Rapide E will be a very limited production run model, so some prospective buyers might find themselves missing out when they finally start being built and delivered next year.

Pricing for the model will be available on application, says the company, and deliveries are expected to begin in late 2019.
