So, that appears to be a nail in the coffin for the rumoured "iPhone XS Plus" and "iPhone XC" names, then, which were widely rumoured to be the monikers of the gadgets.

It is expected that consumers could start buying new Apple products much closer to the unveiling date this year, probably by the first week of October.

It is clearly the Apple season, as the USA technology giant will announce its new products on Wednesday. The easiest way to watch is via the Apple website.

The names for Apple's upcoming iPhones - the unveiling is today, in case you forgot - have been floating on the internet as rumors for a while, but a new leak on Apple's own website all but confirms them.

All three are expected to borrow the swanky all-screen design introduced with the iPhone X a year ago. While similar in size to the iPhone 8 Plus, the Xs Max will employ a steel chassis opposed to aluminum. It'll also come in gold, adding to the gray and silver versions from previous year.

Business Korea reports that, having already extended the investigation period twice, the Korean gov is "likely" to rule in favour of the public research university, which would see a number of Apple devices banned in the country. Apparently, the large, iPhone Xs Max model will also be the heaviest yet at 7.34 ounce (208 grams).

The third phone, a new low-priced version of the iPhone X, could be the hit of the product roll out.

While the iPhones will be the Wednesday's main attraction, Apple's growing smartwatch business will see stage time, too.

In addition to new models, Apple is also expected to unveil new wireless Airpods earbuds, an Apple Watch with a bigger display and maybe a wireless charging mat.

Apple sold 41.3 million iPhones in the third quarter of 2018, up slightly on the 41m sold in the same period a year ago, according to the data compiled by Bloomberg.

In the past, Apple has been a bit persnickety about which web browsers it would let access its Apple event live streams.
