A crowdfunding campaign has raised over $1 million as of Tuesday for the opponent of Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, if she votes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, a move she likened to bribery.

Collins previously said she would oppose a Supreme Court nominee who would not uphold Roe v. Wade.

Collins told the AP that she hasn't made up her mind yet. NBC reports that Collins' office has also been receiving abusive calls and letters from Kavanaugh opponents.

After a week of histrionics during Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings, Collins, a crucial swing vote in the Senate, is thought to be among the only people with the power to stop the nominee's near-certain confirmation to the nation's highest court. "The people of ME are asking you to be a hero, Senator Collins".

In another ad being released Wednesday by Planned Parenthood, the focus group talks about how Collins has been bipartisan and could be a leader in the Supreme Court fight. "We need [Collins] to hear our message", the fundraiser description reads.

Of course, even though the full quote makes it clear that Kavanaugh is referring to the religious group's objection and using their terminology, Harris doubles down on her earlier claim that he used a "dog whistle" to refer to birth control generally. "Our future depends on it".

Activists across the country have been mailing coat hangers to Republican Sen.

"Senators hold the keys to women's fundamental freedoms in their hands", NARAL president Ilyse Hogue said in a statement.

Activists have also raised $360,000 in pledges for Collins's opponent in 2020 if she votes to confirm Kavanaugh.

While a few observers have taken his answers to mean that "Roe and Casey are going nowhere", Kavanaugh's pro-life supporters and pro-abortion foes both argue his non-committal answers were phrased to navigate a narrowly-divided Senate, and that he ultimately would vote to overturn Roe.

Warner said the nominee's prior rulings and conduct before the Senate Judiciary Committee led him to form the "inescapable conclusion" that if Kavanaugh were to ascend to the nation's highest court he would "undermine" abortion rights and "fail" to prevent abuse "by insurance companies".
