New Gmail feature to allow users to send 'confidential' emails

The Confidential Mode allows the senders to put a time stamp on their emails, like a countdown, after which the email disappears from the recipients' accounts.

To send a confidential email in the app, start composing a new email like you always have.

Using the Require passcode menu, you can even set up authentication to view the email for non-Gmail users. In short, it enables users to set a time limit within which an email and any attachments to it much be handled by the message's recipient before it effectively self-destructs. Recipients of these secret messages won't have the capacity to copy, paste, and download, print or forward the message, and attachments will be disabled. Passcodes can either be through a separate email (users not using Gmail) or through an SMS (just do not forget to enter their mobile # when you turn it on). As Google notes, "Although confidential mode helps prevent the recipients from accidentally sharing your email, it doesn't prevent recipients from taking screenshots or photos of your messages or attachments".

You can now set an expiration date, passcode, and other controls. This means that you don't even have to update your Gmail app to receive the feature, as it is being pushed from the server side by Google. This will now be the norm for all confidential emails you send.

All passcodes will be generated by Google while non-Gmail recipients will get an email passcode to authenticate. For users of the Gmail web client, Google's support page states that confidential mode isn't available in classic Gmail.

- In the bottom right of the window, click Turn on confidential mode. But this is only available after you send the email.

Confidential messages will be strictly about conveying the message to the person you choose to send it to. However, one feature which was talked about a lot was the Confidential Mode.
