Ten injured during Manchester shooting

Detective Superintendent Debbie Dooley was quoted by Sky as saying a number of people were in hospital being treated for various injuries, none of which were believed to be life-threatening.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said large groups of people had been brought to the area by afterparties following the opening day of the city's annual Carnival, described as a "vibrant celebration" which promised to bring "Caribbean culture to the forefront" over the weekend. Ten people have been injured, although many of their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are now trying to establish exactly where the shooting took place and the identity of those involved.

It happened after the popular Caribbean Carnival of Manchester took place on Saturday.

Extra officers will be patrolling the area over the coming days to reassure the public, she added.

Ten people have been injured after shots were fired at a Manchester property early this morning.

Ten people suffered minor or major injuries in what Manchester police call "a unsafe attack, " Sky News reports.

"If you do have any concerns please approach them and they will try and help in any way they can". The carnival itself went off without a hitch and was a peaceful event. The shooting was reported about 2.30am on Sunday.

Officers are now on the scene establishing exactly where the shooting took place and identify those involved.
