Kepa not at Courtois' level yet - Sarri looking to manage Chelsea expectations

Sarri opted for a 4-5-1 formation, abandoning Conte's well-established system with three central defenders, and Chelsea struggled initially to get a foothold in the game.

Italy global Jorginho passed home a fearless penalty in the 45th minute as Maurizio Sarri earned his first competitive win at the helm after his team went down to Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend, while fellow debutant and the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga started with a clean sheet. However, they will certainly need to be more clinical and penetrative if they are to build on last season's fine work.

Despite putting up a staunch defence in the first half, they found themselves down 2-0 heading into half time and on the losing end of a 3-0 scoreline.

And in the first game of the season it brought some reward with the French World Cup victor scoring the opener against Huddersfield.

Playing the key anchor role, Jorginho boasted the highest passing success rate on the whole pitch (93.9%), while also making the most clearances (five).

"I don't know, he has always kicked the penalty like this", Sarri shrugged.

STAR MAN - Mounie seemed the most likely to hurt the visiting Londoners and came quite close to equalising after Kante scored in the first half.

WTA Montreal: Simona Halep dominates Ashleigh Barty to reach the final
Open victor Sloane Stephens for the title on Sunday. "We played a good match", Stephens said of their showdown at Roland Garros. The Romanian broke Barty in the opening game and broke again for a 4-1 lead en route to taking the first set.

"We played well. The players have shown commitment, desire, passion and created chances".

But the game turned decisively towards the visitors when Chelsea doubled their advantage just before the interval as Marcos Alonso burst into the area and went down under challenge from Christopher Schindler.

Huddersfield goalkeeper Ben Hamer can do nothing to keep out Jorginho's penalty for Chelsea. After looking aimless for long periods in the first half they were much improved in the second, with more Hazard involvement likely to take them up a gear.

In midfield, new signing Jorginho plays, alongside N'Golo Kante, while Ross Barkley, Willian and Pedro Rodriguez support Alvaro Morata.

Kongolo initially joined the Terriers on loan for the second half of last season and performed well enough at the back for Huddersfield to make him their record signing this summer.

"I don't want to do another Napoli, I want to do a Chelsea", Sarri told a post-match news conference. However, this was forgiven just before half-time when he made a buccaneering break into the Huddersfield box and drew a foul to secure the penalty which Jorginho converted.
