"We bring an inspiring, affordable and convenient home furnishing offer", Jesper Brodin said a day before the grand opening of the furniture giant's vast store on the outskirts of the southern city of Hyderabad. According to reports, on the first of opening, the global furniture store saw a huge crowd of people visiting the store. About 10,000 customers had visited the store by 4 pm but the crowds swelled later as thousands of techies headed to the place while returning home from offices. In fact, the state government is said to have wooed IKEA with expedited land allotments and permissions and even a potential metro station opposite the store.

The company is revising its investment plan, taking into consideration the country's economic growth and geographical dividend. There was a traffic jam in front of the store and to control massive turnout, customers were allowed to enter in batches.

"We have every product under one roof, so whether you are looking for a sofa, bed, children's furniture, or home accessories for every room, it's all under one roof". However, Ikea claims it is for everyone, irrespective of size of their wallet. Overall, I would say the kids' section has been a major attraction for the store due to the range of products that we are offering. "We have a long-term commitment to India, which is an important market for us". We did not know this.
