Known previously as IHOP, the International House of Pancakes, has changed its name to IHOB.

Since IHOP announced the name change (without saying to what) on Twitter last Monday, more than 30,000 people have participated in the speculation game.

Wendy's is trolling IHOP on Twitter after the pancake house chose to become the International House of Burgers.

IHOP, of course, stands for International House of Pancakes.

The chain, which opened its first restaurant in Burbank, California, in 1958, played along all week, even going so far as changing the signage outside its restaurant in Hollywood to "IHOb".

"We're always going to have pancakes on the menu".

The company has rebranded itself "IHOb" to promote this line of burgers, however the name is not a permanent change.

The belt-busting additions to the menu include Cowboy BBQ, which comes with onion rings, bacon and American cheese, and Jalapeno Kick, including sauteed jalapenos, serrano peppers, hickory-smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese and mayo. But according to the restaurant chain the "b" actually stands for.burgers. Darren Rebelez, the president of IHOP, explained the re-branding and put restaurant-goers at ease in a statement. You know, because everyone goes there for the burgers?

But Rebelez said the vast majority of the almost 1,800 other locations will still go by IHOP. It then made a seriously introspective observation: "what is a burger if not a meat pancake between two other pancakes".

To lure in diners after the breakfast rush, IHOP is adding seven new burgers to its menu. Its most recent notable exchange was with WWE wrestler Braun Strowman, who called them out for not having its grilled chicken sandwich readily available upon his past visits.
