2 individuals from embassy in Cuba undergoing medical evaluation

The evacuation occured a few weeks after the State Department disclosed on May 23 that a USA government employee stationed in Guangzhou reported experiencing "vague, but abnormal, sensations of sound and pressure, "NPR reported".

The cases come at a sensitive time in relations between the United States and China, with the two nations locked in negotiations aimed at preventing a trade war and tensions over Beijing's claims to the South China Sea. China says it has uncovered no information that could point to a cause.

However, he indicated that the precise nature of the health problems has not been determined nor it is known if there is a common cause for the cases registered in the Caribbean island or in China.
