President Trump has been privately griping about attending the G7 meeting in Canada this weekend, telling aides it would be a distraction while he was preparing for his summit next week with Kim Jong-un, a new report said Thursday.

"Both countries really use their relationship to showcase. there is an alternative to the American hegemony and they've been doing that for a while even before Trump", she said.

"They should let Russian Federation come back in".

It used to be the Group of Eight, but in 2014 the other nations booted Russian Federation for annexing Crimea and supporting pro-Kremlin separatists in eastern Ukraine.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, whose country is an observer member of the SCO, will also attend the summit at a time when China and Russian Federation are seeking to save the Iran nuclear deal following the U.S.' withdrawal from the pact.

The Italian prime minister was due to meet the leaders of France, Germany and the UK before the main summit in a session seen as a European "huddle" created to present a united front to President Trump, who has imposed trade tariffs on the EU and disagrees with the bloc over a nuclear deal with Iran. On his way to the G-7 summit, Trump tweeted his promise to fight against "the long time unfair trade practiced against the United States".

The latest series of tweets by Trump follow posts he made last night - including his accusation that his host Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is being "indignant". The White House then announced Trump would skip some of the G-7 sessions.
