The protests, which peak every Friday, demand the return of Palestinians refugees, who were forced to leave their cities during the Arab-Israeli war in 1948, as well as lifting the blockade Israel has been imposing on Gaza since 2007.

According to Palestinian Health Ministry's Sunday statement, the number of the Palestinian martyrs in the Great March of Return demonstrations has reached 123, including 12 children, two medics, two journalists whereas 13,672 Palestinians - 7,451 of whom were hit by live ammunition - were wounded by Israeli soldiers.

The military says the Palestinians were carrying an axe and had damaged the fence in their attempt to cross into Israel on Monday. The truce went into effect on May 30, following one of the worst days of violence in Gaza since the 2014 Israeli assault on the strip. It also urged the United Nations and other global organizations to "investigate Israeli crimes and to prosecute those responsible and hold them accountable for their crimes".

There was no immediate Palestinian confirmation.
