The US President: ‘Great meeting with @KimKardashian, talked prison reform’

Kim Kardashian, the 37-year-old reality TV and pop culture icon, made an official visit to the White House on Wednesday, seeking a presidential pardon for a 62-year-old Alabama woman who is now serving a life sentence behind bars with no chance of parole for a first-time drug conviction.

However, if Trump were to grant Alice clemency, it would go against his approach to drugs so far.

Kardashian West is thought to have been involved in private discussions with Kushner and Ivanka Trump for several months.

"Our hope is that we get Miss Alice's freedom - today is her 63rd birthday, her 21st birthday behind bars - so we are hoping that Trump realizes that there is no justifiable reason for Johnson to spend the rest of her life in prison", Barnett said.

At a White House event on prison reform earlier this month, Kushner said that "the single biggest thing that we want to do is really define what the goal of a prison is. Today is for you", Kardashian West tweeted Wednesday. Given a life sentence on October 31, 1996, she has served 21 years at the federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama.

The meeting, first reported by Vanity Fair Tuesday night, follows months of behind-the-scenes talks between Kardashian and Jared Kushner.

Trump jabs Dems after Obama-era immigration photos go viral
What's more, Democrats aren't wholly responsible for either policy. Most of those Twitter users subsequently deleted their tweets.

Johnson's story was first brought to Kardashian's attention via Twitter, and she previously told Mic that she'd been "in communication with the White House" to also make them aware of her. Husband Kanye West was not present either.

The Johnson family first sought clemency for Alice, unsuccessfully, from President Barack Obama, gathering letters of recommendations from her warden and from members of Congress.

The pardon process is entirely up to the president's discretion, and it is unknown at this point whether he plans to announce a decision to coincide with Mrs Kardashian West's visit. "He really understood, and I am very hopeful that this will turn out really positively".

While some loved the "offensive" tweet and encouraged the "humorous" captions, many admitted that they weren't fans of neither the reality TV star nor the president, but felt that the newspaper was "sexist" and "pathetic".

Donald Trump Junior said for years Kim has researched the subject and gave funds to legal defense organizations, and what she got in return from the media is mocking and insults.
