Having earlier apologised for her racist tweet which referred to Ms Jarrett as a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes, Barr attempted to provide an explanation for her comments, saying she was under the influence of the sleeping drug Ambien.

Barr is a noted fan of Trump - as is her sitcom character - and has made many sarcastic comments about former president Obama and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"Don't feel sorry for me, guys!" it said. "I am sure they are going to lose some revenue potential from next season, but the fallout from the comment made this an easy decision, especially when you consider the Disney brand". "Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste", she said. "Roseanne" was a bit hit for ABC and we needed it. Robert Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Co., which owns ABC, shared Dungey's statement and added, "There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing". She later deleted that retweet, and retweeted others who called it out for being fake.

She also said she had been on Ambien, a medication used to treat insomnia, at the time.

Barr was resoundingly condemned Tuesday, including from many who helped make her show successful. "I'm anxious about the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defence". The rebooted classic sitcom debuted this year to huge ratings.

The family also was divided by the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath. "He said he'd shake things up".

"I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed".

Stanley Cup Final 2018: Capitals vs. Golden Knights Result, Updated Schedule
The best story in sports this season, the expansion Golden Knights are four wins away from sipping from the Stanley Cup. Just as it was in Game 5 against the Jets last round, it was the Golden Knights' fourth line come up large on Monday.

The return was watched by an estimated 18.4 million viewers in the United States and Donald Trump phoned Barr to congratulate her on the success.

Mr. Trump even said he called Miss Barr to congratulate her on the show's success.

An hour later, Barr returned to her old tweeting grounds for another post that pleaded with her fans to stop defending her (which seems to be counter to her retweets of their support).

- Following the cancellation of her new show for tweets about a former Obama aide, actress Roseanne Barr was back online and showing no signs of abandoning Twitter.

The backtrack was not enough for her colleague Wanda Sykes, however.

Barr went on a tweet storm late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, retweeting dozens of supportive messages from her followers, including alt-right figures such as Jack Posobiec and Thomas Wictor who continued to peddle conspiracy theories questioning Jarrett's ethnicity and heritage.

Sara Gilbert, exec producer and co-star of Roseanne was quick to dissociate herself from Roseanne's remarks.
