Kardashian-West reportedly met with White House senior adviser Jared Kushner to discuss the issue but it was unclear whether she met with Trump.

Radar reader know that Kushner, 37, (a Harvard graduate and loving husband to Ivanka Trump) has made some progress in the topic of prison reform since his father-in-law entered the White House.

Kim Kardashian West is planning on visiting the White House Wednesday in a bid to free 62-year-old great-grandmother Alice Marie Johnson, who's been locked up in prison for 21 years on a first-time drug offence.

"To keep Miss Alice in prison for the rest of her life is morally and economically indefensible", Barnett said. Johnson, as Kardashian has previously discussed on social media, is now serving a life sentence without parole for a firs-time, nonviolent drug offense.

Kardashian began lobbying for a meeting after catching wind of Alice Marie Johnson's story on social media late a year ago.

Kardashian West has been pushing for the release of Alice Marie Johnson since she heard Johnson tell her story on news website Mic.

Kardashian supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, but her husband, Kanye West, generated attention in April for a series of tweets in support of Trump.

While the Trump administration is staunchly opposed to sentencing reforms, it has supported more modest prison and reentry reforms. Last month he granted a posthumous pardon to Jack Johnson, boxing's first black heavyweight champion, after pleas from Sylvester Stallone and Johnson's great-great niece. The president and West exchanged compliments on Twitter last month. "It's very nice that she is here, but that's not a serious thing to have happen here at the White House".

Johnson's case meets the criteria for clemency, but President Barack Obama passed over her case three times.

Some critics of the effort say it doesn't go far enough and want lawmakers to include reductions in sentencing guidelines, a step opposed by the White House and the Justice Department.
