But there's a catch to the scoring: you need to play at least 50 games in Solo Showdown, and only the first 50 will count towards your score to dissuade high-volume players from taking all the glory.

Fortnite game files include folders for each of the game's modes.

Fortnite publisher Epic Games says that player placements and performances 'will be specially tracked and determine rewards you receive at the end of the event'.

The new Solo Showdown Limited-Time Mode that went live today trades the usual rules tweaks (like letting you play as Thanos) for a meta-game competition to see who can play the best across 50 rounds. The position of the players is also decided based on points gathered over 50 matches. Finishing first in a match will earn you a full 100 point, which drops all the way down to just 25 points for places 76 to 100.

The party - which barely had a presence in the 2013 polls - has come out as the clear number 2 in the state, replacing the Left. Counting for the 48,650 seats in 3,358 gram panchayats and 9,217 seats in 341 panchayat samitis in West Bengal is underway.

This new feature basically acts as something of a proving ground where some of the best players in the world compete to prove once and for all who is truly the greatest. The prizes for the rest of the top 100 aren't anything to stick your nose up at, either: 2nd-4th place will get 25,000 V-Bucks, 5th-50th will get 13,500, and 51st-100th will get 7,500. The player who manages to secure first place will get 50,000 V-Bucks. Instead, it simply offers players a chance of netting some pretty awesome rewards if they manage to place in the top 100 players in the mode over the course of the event.

The new mode is going on from now until May 21st at 10 AM ET.
