Whitney Houston's family and friends claim in the new documentary Whitney that the late music icon was molested as a child by her cousin Dee Dee Warwick.

"That led somebody to tell me, 'Whitney told me she was abused, ' but they wouldn't go on camera", Macdonald said. She was a Grammy-nominated singer who sang backup for high-profile acts including Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett and Cissy Houston, Whitney's mother and Dee Dee's aunt. After being asked what makes her angry in one press stop, she replies, "Child abuse makes me angry.I hate to see bothers me that children, who are helpless, who depend on adults for security and love, it just bothers me". Houston's brother Gary tells Macdonald that during those frequent stays, a female family member molested him from the ages of seven to nine. Houston died in a bathtub at the Beverly Hills Hotel in February 2012, aged 48.

Pat Houston, Houston's sister-in-law, manager, and estate executor, said she doesn't want Dionne Warwick to pay for her sister's alleged actions.

The allegations were made in the documentary "Whitney", which was made with the cooperation of Houston's family. The documentary features interviews with many of Houston's relatives and close acquaintances, including her half-brother Gary Garland-Houston and assistant Mary Jones.

Whitney will be released in United Kingdom and USA cinemas on 6 July.

Whitney's mother Cissy, who was a major influence in her daughter's life and career, never knew about the alleged abuse because Whitney was "ashamed" about what happened, Jones said.
