Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach has backed hometown club Marseille to win the Europa League final against his side's local rivals Atletico Madrid.

Griezmann, 27, scored either side of half-time in a dominant performance by Atleti, only saying his aim was to "win more trophies" without being drawn on whether that would be with his current club or elsewhere.

Griezmann has scored 29 goals this season, with the Europa League crown his second trophy at Atletico since arriving from Real Sociedad in 2014.

The France global produced an ice-cool finish beyond Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda to put Atletico in charge and he started and finished an exquisite move which effectively killed off the French side early in the second half.

And Marseille suffered another early blow when Captain Dimitri Payet had to go off injured.

But nothing could disguise Atletico's vast superiority, as it added to the Europa League trophies from 2010 and 2012. And once that goal went in, it suddenly looked like a mammoth task for Marseille as we all know how sturdy the Atletico Madrid defence can be.

It is Griezmann's first major title with Atletico, and a fitting way to bow out if he leaves at the season's end, with Barcelona tipped as his next destination.

It's the third Europa League crown for Atleti, and for Diego Simeone (two as Atleti manager, and one as Inter Milan player).

Just five minutes into the final half of Europa League football this season, Griezmann doubled Atletico's lead with a wonderful finish, giving Mandanda no chance and it appeared to put the final sword into Marseille's hopes of winning the tournament.

"I feel sad that I won't be as close as I'd like to the players but we had this situation before, when German took charge against Arsenal", he said.

"When I was a youngster I was in the stands experiencing Marseille, so for that reason I wish them all the best for the final".

The game carried on regardless, with Rudi Garcia's side well beaten.

Marseille and Atletico Madrid have only met twice before, in the group stages of the 2008/09 Champions League.

After the game, Super Eagles great Mutiu Adepoju was one of Twitter users of the opinion that La Liga is the best league in the world.

Griezmann's second, minutes after the restart, was cooly taken and underlined the Spanish club's technical superiority.
