The Frenchman, who will take charge of his last game for the Gunners at Huddersfield on Sunday after nearly 22 years in charge, won three Premier League titles when the north London club were based at Highbury.

Silva was signed by Wenger in 2002 and spent six seasons under the former Nagoya Grampus and Monaco boss, winning the Premier League and FA Cup, while the Brazilian was a Champions League runner-up with Arsenal in 2005-06.

"But maybe let's see I don't know if it's going to be one of my ex-team-mates is going to replace him but if not now but it would be nice to see somebody around at some point and I hope it happens soon".

"Do I feel relief? At some stage it has to end, I wish everyone well, the fans have been great until the end and I wish the club well for the future".

Wenger has revealed that the long farewell to his reign as Arsenal manager has not been a completely enjoyable experience.

A European Super League has been mooted for a number of years, with Europes top clubs thought to be ready to abandon their domestic leagues to form a lucrative inter-continental super league, although nothing has ever come to fruition.

"I would say, personally, from 2006 to 2015 - it was certainly the period where I needed to be the strongest and did my best job", Wenger said.

Planes have been flown over stadiums before with messages for Wenger - usually demanding that he get out of the club.

A sixth place finish - 37 points behind champions Manchester City - was a reminder how far Arsenal's standards had slipped in Wenger's final years.

The club announced he would be leaving on April 20 with the Gunners still in the Europa League semi-finals and with five Premier League games remaining.

But Wenger indicated global management could yet be on the agenda, although he would like to see Southgate remain with England beyond his current contract, which expires in 2020. "But one can be sure, I will visit India", he said.
