Now granted, don't get me wrong, he's a solid coach, I'll give him that.

"It's silly. The praise is uncomfortable", Stevens told reporters on Monday.

"It is silly", Stevens said (via ESPN). "We have a role to play and we all need to play that role as well as we can".

Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens is uncomfortable with all the praise he's received for Boston's success.

Nobody's stock has risen higher during the 2018 National Basketball Association playoffs than Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens', but Celtics legend Robert Parish wondered if some are going a bit overboard in crediting Stevens for the team's success. I'm just saying, the amount of praise he's getting, you'd think he won a championship or two.

"We don't win if we're not there", he said of playing the contest at home.

With all eyes on the Celtics and Stevens in game 1, the C's didn't disappoint. But also, deflecting from his own work and making it about the team is what Stevens has done the entire time he's been in Boston.

And in the aftermath of Hayward's opening night injury, the Celtics came together and won 55 games during the regular season, touting one of the league's best defensive units. "The bottom line is, you have to play and play well".

Stevens, meanwhile, said the focus should be on his players during the postseason. He puts his young guys in positions where they'll succeed, and is a giant part of why Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are so confident when they take the floor.

The Celtics will face the Cavaliers in game two on Tuesday.

Without Stevens, who knows where Boston's rebuild would be at the moment.

Boston, however, topped the Milwaukee Bucks in seven games and easily handled the Philadelphia 76ers to advance to the Eastern Conference finals, where they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in game one on Sunday.
