Development of the satellite program, known as the "Bangabandhu Satellite Launching Project", was managed by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) with technical support from Space Partnership International (SPI).

It is created to be capable of 10 or more flights with very limited refurbishment as SpaceX continues to strive for rapid reusability and extremely high reliability, according to SpaceX's news release. "Also, I would like to thank Russian Federation for giving us the opportunity to use their orbital slot".

A Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket, an upgrade version of the SpaceX, was launched at 4-14pm (local time) from LC-39A pad to deliver the 7,700 pound Bangabandhu-1 satellite to a geostationary transfer orbit.

Elon Musk's fledgling aerospace company SpaceX has bounced back from its failure to launch this week, successfully launching its Falcon 9 rocket from Florida's Cape Canaveral yesterday.

After launch, the mission achieved a quick succession: a first stage engine cutoff followed by a stage separation, and then a second stage burn and fairing release. Launching almost every other week - while developing a huge reusable Mars rocket and a constellation of 4,425 broadband satellites - SpaceX has become one of the most valuable private companies in the world, worth almost $28 billion.

The first launch attempt of the satellite, however, was postponed in the early hours of Friday, due to "standard ground system auto abort". That's more than half of the estimated overall $62 million price of the Falcon 9, according to various trade publications. But even without the Block 5, SpaceX is already slated to have an extremely productive year, with 30 launches on deck for 2018.
