Swansea City gaffer Carlos Carvalhal will leave the side at the end of the season as the club are now on the verge of relegating to the English League second division.

Since beating relegation rivals West Ham 4-1 at the beginning of March, Swansea have picked up two points - draws against West Brom and Everton - in seven Premier League matches.

It may prove too little too late, though, with any result other than a draw between Southampton and Swansea on Wednesday night - live on Sky Sports Premier League - relegating the Baggies to the Sky Bet Championship. Southampton's players must avoid all complacency as this remains just as important a match as any of those who have proceeded it.

Evans has endured a hard season at West Brom, and is reportedly set to leave during the summer.

The Swans (18th) are three points behind Southampton (17th) meaning that they need to win and need Saints to lose to have any chance at all. However, the Saints were dealt an untimely blow beforehand when their booking at the Swansea Marriott Hotel was cancelled at short notice, forcing the club to seek alternative accommodation some 40 miles away from the stadium. Huddersfield Town will play at Chelsea tomorrow in their 37th match of the season.

The Saints have a much better goal difference than many of those around them at -18, meaning there is a now a nine-goal swing between them and the Swans who sit on -27.

Swansea is hosting Stoke on Sunday and a loss will mean they will be eliminated from the Premier League. Both clubs now sit on 36 points, three points clear of Swansea in the drop-zone, but Southampton have a goal difference of -18 compared to Huddersfield's -29.

They may be more confident of securing that all-important point on the final day.
