Russia Urges Trump-Putin Summit After US Rebuff of Iran Deal

In January, Trump gave Britain, France, and Germany an unrealistic deadline-May 12-to fix what he considers the deal's defects, including the sunset clauses under which some of the terms expire, Iran's ballistic missiles program (which was not part of the deal), and the monitoring of suspected Iranian nuclear sites.

"We will seek to make sure that it does not destroy the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for the Iranian nuclear program".

Moscow is "deeply disappointed" by U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, said a Russian Foreign Ministry statement on Tuesday.

Israel carried out the raids after it said around 20 rockets were fired from Syria at its forces in the occupied Golan Heights at around midnight.

"We feel that the extraterritoriality of their sanction measures are unacceptable", he told the French daily Le Parisien.

A day after Trump's controversial decision, which triggered global condemnations, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced his "deep concern" over his American counterpart's withdrawal from the accord.

Leaders of the three countries encouraged Iran to show restraint in response to the decision by the US. The decision overturned years of painstaking diplomacy and left European allies scrambling to save the hard-fought deal.

Salami said Iran's enemies were not seeking military confrontation.

The White House in a statement blamed the "provocative" attacks by Iran, saying the United States "strongly support Israel's right to act in self-defence".
