Teenage boys shot within minutes of each other in high street attack

Officers were alerted to an incident in High Street, Wealdstone, Harrow, at 1.17pm and found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.

"The violence used has rightly caused concern and we are doing all we can to address this", DCS Simon Messinger said of the spate of attacks.

No arrests have been made and detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, after police were called about reports of gunshots on Saturday.

The 43-year-old victim - understood to be a resident - was taken to a north London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"Locally we are flexing our resources to increase the uniform police presence in Harrow, and working with Operation Trident to ensure our proactive effort is tasked in a targeted way". Police said they believed the teenager was an innocent bystander after a 15-year-old boy was attacked nearby.

The latest round of violence began on Saturday in Kennington where Rhyiem Ainsworth Barton was murdered in a gun attack.

She said her son was not in a gang and he had been "trying to make a difference" by learning to work with children. This victim is believed to have sustained an arm injury and left prior to the arrival of the emergency services.

Cops are now hunting the suspect and the boy's family have been informed.

A man is being treated in hospital after he was stabbed in a residential street in London in what it believed to have been a dispute over the suspect's driving.

People were asked to avoid the area while police investigated the incident.

Scotland Yard said they believed that the suspect, who was driving a blue auto, was being questioned by a number of residents about the nature of his driving shortly before the incident.

Official statistics released in April show the number of homicides in London has spiked by more than 44% in the previous year.

Elsewhere, two men died in stabbings in Liverpool and Luton during the bank holiday weekend.

On April 9, the British government published a new crime prevention strategy, which aims to tackle the rise in violent crimes.
