George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted in Trayvon Martin's 2012 shooting passing, has been charged for supposedly threatening and raping a personal investigator.

The former neighborhood watch volunteer fatally shot the 17-year-old Martin in 2012 in the central Florida city of Sanford. He was acquitted after a high-profile trial.

Warren was hired by a production company to help find people who could be interested in participating in a documentary about Martin, sheriff's office documents obtained by Fox News reveal.

"I know how to handle people who [expletive] with me", Zimmerman allegedly wrote in a text message to the private investigator, according to WKMG-TV.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office investigated allegations that Zimmerman had threatened Dennis Warren in December 2017, according to a press release.

The misdemeanor stalking charge was filed in March in Seminole County Court and alleges that Zimmerman stalked and threatened the investigator. Another text stated, "DENNIS IS A FUCKNG PUSSY WHO BOTHERED MY UNCLE IN HIS HOME". When a female deputy contacted Zimmerman in January, he yelled profanities and said, "You have been involved with me since that Martin kid", according to the sheriff's office.

Warren left a voicemail for Zimmerman on September 21 explaining that a producer would like to speak to him about being included in the documentary, the report said. Then in December, he heard from a producer on the documentary that Zimmerman "was extremely agitated and sending him what he perceived to be physical threats against himself and Warren", court documents say.

The investigator reached out to law enforcement and was advised to tell Zimmerman to stop communicating with him.

Warren said that before long, he became inundated with menacing messages from Zimmerman, including 21 phone calls and 38 texts in a span of two hours.

In November 2013, he was arrested on aggravated assault and battery charges after his girlfriend told officers he pointed a shotgun at her. Warren also claims to have gotten direct texts from Zimmerman, like "Answer your phone, PUSSY!" and "I'll see you before you realize it".

Since the shooting, Zimmerman has tried to auction off the gun he shot Trayvon with, labeling it an 'American Firearm Icon'.

Zimmerman has a notice to appear on May 30.
