Andrew Cuomo (D) called for state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D) to resign after an explosive report detailed allegations of physical abuse by Schneiderman.

The Associated Press is identifying the two women who spoke to The New Yorker because they agreed to tell their stories publicly. They allege that he repeatedly hit them, often after drinking, frequently in bed and never with their consent.

Both women say they never reported the allegations to the police, but did receive medical attention for their injuries.

In an official statement released hours after the allegations surfaced, Schneiderman announced that he would resign as attorney general but doubled down on denying the women's claims. He's also been relentless in his pursuit of President Trump, filing lawsuits to block his policies and criticizing him as morally unfit. According to the New Yorker, the woman " is too frightened of him to come forward".

Selvaratnam says the Democrat warned her he could have her followed or her phones tapped. "In the last several hours, serious allegations, which I strongly contest, have been made against me", Schneiderman said in a statement.
