The success of the summit held between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his North Korean counterpart President Kim Jong-un exceeded all optimistic expectations as the two leaders seemed to forge not only a warm personal rapport, but also struck broad agreements on most if not all the issues dividing the two countries.

"I want to congratulate the Republic of Korea on its historic summit with North Korea, and we're encouraged by President Moon and Kim Jong-un's expressed goal of complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula".

North Korea said United States sanctions aren't the reason behind its willingness to remove nuclear weapons from peninsula, accusing its adversary of trying to ramp up tensions ahead of a summit between leaders of the countries.

Kim Jong-dae, a legislator of the minor liberal Justice Party, wrote on his Facebook page during his trip to Washington with presidential advisor Moon Chung-in, that Panmunjom had been suggested to officials close to Trump, who said they would "review the idea and clearly report it to President Trump".

"The two other movie sets used to be more popular than Panmunjom replica but following the summit, most visitors want to see Panmunjom set first", a studio official said.

On Friday, he said he and his team "now have a date and we have a location. We'll be announcing it soon", Trump told reporters Friday. He's previously said the summit was planned for May or early June.

Two U.S. ex-presidents have traveled to North Korea: Jimmy Carter in 1994, 2010 and 2011 and Bill Clinton in 2009. But momentum for diplomacy has built this year as the rival Koreas have patched up ties.

At the summit, the North agreed to seek the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

He also criticised Washington for its ongoing "pressure and military threats" and its position that such pressure won't be eased until North Korea gives up its nuclear weapons completely. It remains unclear if Kim has relaxed that demand as he turns to diplomacy with adversaries after a year of escalating tensions.

Some 28,500 USA forces are based in the allied nation, a military presence that has been preserved to deter North Korea since the war ended in 1953 without a peace treaty.

"As I said yesterday, stay tuned", Trump added. Well, he did it, and he did it out of a relationship that we have, and also, out of the fact that we're negotiating trade deals, and I think that's also very important to him.

The New York Times reported that Trump has asked the Pentagon to prepare options plans for drawing down American troops. An armstice brought about a ceasefire to the Korean War in 1953, but the conflict never officially ended because the parties could not agree on a formal peace treaty.

Eighteen Republicans last week signed a letter to "respectfully nominate" the president for his efforts to end the Korean War.
