While Resy is the among the few businesses that are now accepting in-app payments from users on Instagram, it is expected that more businesses will be able to support in-app payments in the near future.

While Instagram has started testing its payments feature only now, rival Snapchat had started testing something very similar in February this year. The kind of feature was made readily available to the Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. India is yet to enjoy this attractive Instagram feature. The Instagram payments feature is now available only to select users, however, we expect the global rollout to happen very soon, most possibly in the next few months to come. It's unclear if peer-to-peer payments might come to Instagram, but having a way to add a credit or debit card on file is a critical building block to that feature. However, the update suggests the feature should not be too far away, and may be enabled in the next few months. Users can find this option in setting option on Instagram. Users will be able to view products and then complete the check-out process all within the Instagram app. Instagram was planning to add this service this service since 2017. The new feature store the option of saving payment and users can also add security PIN for secure access. As per reports by TechCrunch, Instagram payments will be available to limited partners and users initially for making appointments and reservations.
