Missing Latvian Tourist's Body Found Mutilated; Liga Skromane Missing Since March 14

Since the Latvian woman, Liga Skromane's missing case is yet to be solved, the police will conduct a forensic examination to check whether the body is that of the 33-year-old who came to Kerala for Ayurveda treatment and went missing from Kovalam beach on March 14.

According to an NDTV report, the woman's sister identified the body on Saturday morning.

However, a detailed forensic examination would be done to scientifically confirm this.

The police officials recovered the body Friday, April 20, from an isolated area at Thiruvallam area in the state capital.

The head of the body was found lying away from the torso, in a marshy spot. "Only after that can we know more about the nature of the injuries", city police commissioner P Prakash was quoted as saying by TOI.

Liga, a well-travelled woman with Lativan passport had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on February 21 for Ayurvedic treatment of post-traumatic depression. She had come to Kovalam with her sister Ilze on the morning of March 14. Her husband Andrew Jordan (42) and her sister Ilze Skormane had been frantically wandering around the streets looking for Liga since she left.

She went missing from the treatment center in Pothencode.
