Senior CBI officials said that MLA Sengar and Shashi were first asked same set of questions while keeping them separately. Sengar is a BJP MLA from Bangermau, Unnao.

The Unnao rape victim's uncle has claimed that the family faces a threat from the jailed MLA Kuldeep Sengar.

Sengar, the lawmaker from Unnao's Bangamau, however continued to claim that he was innocent and told media persons before he was presented before the court that he had full faith in God and the judiciary. When she complained with CM Adityanath's office (CMO), they directed police to take action.

On January 23, the government had handed over the case to the crime branch of the state police which formed a Special Investigation Team and arrested eight people including two special police officers and a head constable, who was charged with destruction of evidence.

A case was then registered on the complaint of Assistant Commissioner, Customs (Marine and Preventive), Mumbai who stated that private individuals were offering him a bribe, the official said.

A Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A. M Khanwilkar and D.Y Chandrachud was also critical of the Jammu High Court Bar Association, which had passed a resolution not to attend the Courts saying "it is the duty of the Bar Association as a collective body and they can not obstruct the process of law".

The agency is also likely to give an application in the court seeking permission to conduct lie-detector test on Sengar, later this week.

Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had rapped the police for its inaction against the BJP legislator who was influencing the "law-and-order machinery". But when the court came out with the clear order that the accused should be arrested and not merely be detained, the investigating agency arrested him.

"We do not want CBI investigation".

Interestingly, what the UP police could not do in the past 10 months, the CBI virtually did in 10 hours-by arresting the accused.
