Former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz pinned the blame on bad weather for their failure to attend the proceedings of the Avenfield properties case against them. "The judges acted as lawyers of Imran Khan and they were party against Nawaz Sharif". He pointed out that Article 68 even prevented Parliament from criticising the judiciary and its decisions.

Maryam's counsel Amjad Pervez has resumed his cross-examination of Wajid Zia, an additional director at the Federal Investigation Agency who headed the Panama case joint investigation team (JIT) which probed the Sharif family's assets a year ago.

Subsequently, the court directed PEMRA to strictly monitor the speeches.

On Monday, a larger bench of the LHC ordered Pemra to stop television channels from airing anti-judiciary speeches by Sharif, his daughter and other party leaders.

"Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of every citizen", Barrister Ali Zafar, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, told Arab News. However, the bench rejected his application to reconstitute the bench after exclusion of Justice Naqvi.

The petitioner said PEMRA did not block these hateful and ridiculing remarks passed against the judiciary.

"So the court's decision is correct, but it will still be hard to implement". At the previous hearing, Dogar had objected to the inclusion of Justice Atir Mehmood on the bench, saying he had previously remained a PTI office-bearer. The defence counsel had insisted it appeared that the bench had already made up its mind about the outcome of the case.

The LHC judge affirmed that the bench will dispense justice and decide the case as per law.

Counsel for one of the petitioners, Azhar Siddiqui informed the court that Pemra did not take any action over petitions filed with it regarding alleged anti-judiciary speeches by PML-N leaders.

Multiple petitions have been filed in different courts against them over alleged contempt of court.
