Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is desperate to win the Champions League, saying that was his focus ahead of individual prizes. "I am excited to be champions with our fans".

There were a few moments against Bournemouth when Salah looked preoccupied by getting to 40 goals, but he made no apology as he wants to outgun Tottenham's Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.

"If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League".

Salah has score nine times in 11 games in the Champions League in all competitions this season to help Liverpool FC reach the last four.

Victory edges Liverpool ever closer to securing a return to the Champions League next season as they closed to within one point of Manchester United in second and re-established their 10-point lead over fifth-placed Chelsea. "I'm sure he'll keep doing that for the rest of the season".

Two of those reverses came at the hands of Liverpool, who cruised into their first Champions League semi-final for a decade 5-1 on aggregate against the runaway Premier League leaders.

"You won't see a better collective team goal this week".

His performances have also seen him become favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year in what seems a straight shoot out between him and Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne.

"He knows that the way we play suits him".

The goal also saw the Egypt global reach the 40-goal mark across all competitions; a feat that he achieved in just 45 games.

"Second-half I though we improved greatly, I thought we were well in the game until a brilliant second goal from their perspective kills the game".

But Salah could finish this season on another high, with the Reds facing his former club Roma in the Champions League semi-final in seven days' time.

"Playing like this is great, it's just great and scoring these goals is really good - 300 is really a massive number, to be honest", said Klopp.
