Jose Mourinho: What I have asked of Paul Pogba at Man United

Jose Mourinho has stressed that Manchester City won the Premier League title "because they won more points than everyone else" and not because Manchester United lost to West Bromwich Albion.

United had to at least draw to keep the title race mathematically alive but were stunned at Old Trafford when Jay Rodriguez headed home after the break.

A stirring comeback against Pep Guardiola's men last weekend prevented United's neighbours from winning the title and Mourinho suggested that dramatic result created complacency in his side.

Guardiola and his players will have the chance to celebrate properly on Sunday when they host Swansea in their next fixture.

City had moved within touching distance of the title with a 3-1 win at Tottenham on Saturday.

United's comeback at the Etihad from a 2-0 half-time deficit offered their supporters a rare fillip of flair and excitement after a hard season where their style of play has hardly endeared Jose Mourinho to the club's fanbase.

Can United be more competitive next season?

Everything was complicated, they couldn't play simple, everything was one more touch, one more flick, one more turn, the ball lost.

Manchester City Still Best In England After 3-1 Win Over Tottenham
After three minutes of added time, the referee sounded the whistle to end the first half of the game with City leading by 2-1. Both sides continued to put up impressive play to ensure the game swing in their favour, but it was City who got lucky.

A strong rating like that suggests positive word-of-mouth, which may help the film do well into its second and third weeks. That's despite new horror competition from Blumhouse's Truth Or Dare , which looked to target more of a teen audience.

Pogba was singled out by Mourinho and not for the first time this season the Frecnhamn finds himself under fire at Old Trafford.

United's performance was in stark contrast to their display against City last time out, and Mourinho's team selection is also likely to come under scrutiny.

Having put title celebrations on ice at the Etihad Stadium thanks to a stunning 3-2 win over City last week, United folded at the hands of the relegation-threatened Baggies.

He added: "You can win the Champions League in seven games, the league is 10 months". If you were a fan you would have been expecting far more.

"After beating Manchester City we wanted a winning spirit until the end of the season but today was one of those days".

"And probably because I won eight championships I was not in the moon with the victory against them because that doesn't make me feel super happy, and in my opinion affected for sure some of the people that were too happy just with that".

"It's incredible the way we played and I am so glad to be here and be part of this club", he said on the club's website.
