Oliver, the host of the HBO show "Last Week Tonight", said on his program Sunday night that he had purchased what he called "pointless Russell Crowe movie memorabilia" from an auction the actor arranged to celebrate his divorce. Over the course of 16 minutes, Oliver elucidates how last year's tax bill made it so that citizens pay more in taxes than corporations, how corporations have options for paying even less, and how all of this could have been avoided.

Oliver told his audience that he had bought the jockstrap - as well as a vest Crowe wore in Les Miserables and a seat from American Gangster - to donate to the last Blockbuster outlet in Anchorage, Alaska. After introducing the segment with a nostalgia-fueled look back at Blockbuster, during which the show sourced KTUU's reporting, Oliver said he hopes to send the Crowe memorabilia to the Blockboster on Debarr Road.
