The United States, Britain and France have launched a new bid at the United Nations to investigate chemical weapons attacks in Syria in the wake of US-led missile strikes against Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Paris: French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Saturday that missile strikes carried out overnight in Syria by Britain, France and the U.S. had destroyed a "large part" of the Damascus government's stocks of chemical weapons.

The U.S. -led military attack on Syria has limited influence on curbing fighting capacity of the Syrian forces, Osama Danura, a Syria political expert who holds PhD in political science, said on Saturday.

President Trump declared "mission accomplished" in a tweet Saturday, and USA officials said the strike had satisfied all the goals of the military operation.

The Pentagon reported Saturday a massive spike in online Russian propaganda efforts in the hours before and after the USA missile strike on Syria the night before. According to Damascus, which has repeatedly said it had eliminated its chemical weapons stockpiles, the attack damaged Syrian infrastructure, and left three civilians injured. "Mission Accomplished!", Trump tweeted Saturday.

The Pentagon denied that any missiles were intercepted by the Syrian regime and said that strikes "successfully hit every target".

Russia Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov blamed the United States, the United Kingdom, and France for any actions Russia takes in response to the missile strike on Syria.

As pictures of the bombing raids aftermath continue to emerge, Mr Trump said he "could not have had a better result".

- More than 100 missiles were collectively launched overnight from British, French and American forces in Syria. Defence secretary Gavin Wiliamson told BBC Radio 4: "Our service personnel have played an important role in terms of degrading the ability of the Syrian regime to use chemical weapons in the future, but also it sends a clear message to the Syrian regime that they can not continue to use chemical weapons with impunity".

Images from the satellite imagery company DigitalGlobe now appear to show at least two of these three sites - the Barzeh Research and Development Center and the Him Shinshar chemical weapons storage complex - before and after the strikes. And also Russia's been looking at it as essentially as its toehold into the Middle East for extending its sort of power base more regionally.

Russia has condemned "in the strongest possible terms" the attack against Syria, where Russian military personnel are assisting the legitimate government in its counterterrorism efforts.

"The red line established by France in May 2017 was crossed", French President Emmanuel Macron said. "Russian Federation will demand a meeting of the U.N. Security Council, I think, for sure", Dzhabarov, who is the deputy head of Russia's foreign affairs committee, was quoted by RIA as saying. "It is not about regime change".

A Pentagon briefing later said the strikes had "set the Syrian chemical weapons programme back for years".

"This is not about intervening in a civil war".

Russian Federation and Syria claim the attack was fabricated.
