Second, he questions Comey's integrity, calling the memos Comey relies on to make his claims about Trump's decision to fire him, "phony". The New York Daily News pounced on the latter revelation with a front-page headline that read, "Pee Brain".

Details of Comey's book are leaking out as he prepares for a full-scale media tour next week.

Trump is reacting to Comey's new book, which compares the president to an unethical mob boss who demands loyalty and twists facts to serve his goal.

Some have compared this book to the previous release of the Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury", [VIDEO] but as Wolff has always been known to play loose with facts, the Comey book is certain to carry more weight. "I don't remember consciously thinking about that, but it must have been". He recalled noting the size of the president's hands, which has been a notorious sore spot for Trump. "It was smaller than mine, but did not seem unusually so".

On Friday, Stephanopoulos tweeted out a link to another preview where Comey describes warning Trump about one of the most infamous allegations in a dossier of claims involving Trump and Russian Federation, parts of which remain unverified.

Trump tweeted "James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR. Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the bad job he did-until he was, in fact, fired", Trump wrote in a Twitter tirade.

In a pair of tweets, Trump accused Comey of leaking classified information and lying to Congress under oath.

New Jersey's NJ.com, for instance, goes with this headline: "Comey: Getting wedgies as a kid in N.J. prepared me for Trump". The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's tell-all memoir is slated for release Tuesday and claims the president urged him to disprove salacious parts of the notorious Steele Dossier.

Speaking with reporters at the White House, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Comey "seems like a disgruntled ex-employee; after all, he was sacked".

"I don't speak like that, " he said, adding: "By the way, I wouldn't do that because you're going to help him sell books". "I sure hope not". The White House had outsourced much of the nitty-gritty of the response to the RNC.

The 6-foot-8 Comey describes Trump as shorter than he expected with a "too long" tie and "bright white half-moons" under his eyes that he suggests came from tanning goggles.

"It bothered him if there was "even a one percent chance" his wife, Melania, thought it was true", Comey writes.

Loyalty was, on one level, the issue over which Comey supposedly was sacked.

"I knew they would seize on this but felt it is such a great Military term, it should be brought back". Other than mistakes in the way I presented myself in the July 5 public statement in front of the television cameras, I am convinced that if I could do it all again, I would do the same thing, given my role and what I knew at the time.

Comey also wrote that in a post-election briefing for senators, then-Sen. "It was nearly an out-of-body experience for me", he said. "President Obama was not an outwardly emotional man in these kinds of meetings, but still I spoke in unusually emotional terms to him". Maybe he will ask for a portion of the royalties! She also took issue with some of Comey's personal commentary in the book, saying it was "no way to comport oneself after you're trying to prove that you have this quote, 'higher loyalty"'.
