Former first lady Barbara Bush, who's been in failing health for some time, will forgo any more medical treatment and instead try to remain comfortable at home, CNN reported Sunday.

The wife of the 41st USA president and the mother of the 43rd, Bush is only the 2nd woman in American history to hold the distinction of being a First Lady and First Mother.

Both Barbara Bush and her husband, who live in Texas, have confronted numerous medical difficulties in recent years. It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself - thanks to her abiding faith - but for others.

Her husband, the 41st USA president, is 93 years old.

In January, Mrs. Bush and her husband were hospitalized at the same time. Another son, Jeb Bush, was governor of Florida and unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016. He was hospitalized in Houston in December 2014 for about a week for shortness of breath and spent Christmas 2012 in intensive care for a bronchitis-related cough and other issues.
